This place seems to be a favorite of the locals though, based on all the people that were there to order. The cheesesteak itself was good, but I wouldn't recommend getting the "whole" sized one as it's longer than your arm! It took a lot of time and effort to eat the "half" and I was uncomfortably full afterwards. Good bang for your buck though. It was phenomenal--the sandwich, the culture, the ambience--the whole experience.

The wait: Line wrapped in a U blocking doorway making it hard to get in or out. Everyone waiting was totally cool with the wait--a testimony that the quality of the product is worth it. The Hoagie was originally created in Philadelphia. What are you supposed to do with the other half of the meat mixture, let the cook eat it as a reward for working so hard to make the sandwich? I hate misleading recipes. An authentic Philly cheesesteak is not cheese wiz. Nor does it have pickles.

Nor is a French baguette a suitable substitute. Come on. If you fully read the history and the recipe instructions you would learn that Philadelphians like either provolone or melted cheese wiz when they order a cheesesteak at a counter. Also, Italian bread or hoagie rolled is listed to use for the bread. A fresh baguette loaf would work if you have no other options. Everyone at least we Philadelphians know there is a cheese sauce that is used — however it is NOT cheese whiz.
