The incumbent may be required to make major or novel adaptations to existing guides in order to accomplish the mission of the G2X. The incumbent must possess an in-depth knowledge of intelligence disciplines and mastery from a wide spectrum of experience to develop and implement policy. Incumbent may be required to alter the G2X organizational structure and work methods to meet changes in requirements and shifts in workload.

Incumbent assigns or reassigns personnel and consults with superiors on major technical and administrative problems. Is responsible for the effective use of assigned personnel and for the quality and quantity of work produced. Maintains contacts with higher-echelon and policy organizations, including the Joint Staff, Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence, and others to seek support, guidance, and policies, and inform of key projects and capabilities.

Additionally, purpose of contacts is to resolve non-routine problems affecting overall activities of the G2X. Develops plans and schedules for guidance of subordinates. Supervisor for the accomplishment of work to meet program goals, objectives, and broad priorities established by higher levels of management.

Informs higher-level supervisors of anticipated vacancies, increases in workload or other circumstances requiring replacements or additional staff. Recommends promotions and recognition of outstanding performance. Resolves informal complaints of employees, contacting higher levels of supervision for information and correction of unsatisfactory conditions, if required. Directs on-the-job training for employees, and provides back-up skills by cross training.

Defines quality standards and internal instructions and procedures. Advises employees of the performance requirements of their positions and keeps them informed individually on progress toward meeting requirements. Holds corrective interviews with employees and initiates disciplinary actions, when required.

Prepares formal evaluations of employees' performance. Explains to employees the main features and general procedures of promotion plans, training programs and opportunities, and seeks answers to more technical questions from staff specialists. Inform employees about the policies, procedures, and goals of management as it relates to the work element. Inform superiors of employees' participation, suggestions, and reactions. Serves as an authority with responsibility to commit the organization to action.

Decisions and recommendations typically influence intelligence policies, programs, goals, or priorities. Expert understanding of intelligence, counter-terrorism, investigations, and threat analysis.

Comprehensive knowledge of the intelligence cycle, functions, processes, methodologies, tools and techniques in support of G2X missions. Ability to define information resources and databases, technologies, systems, and programs to meet G2X and customer needs. Ability to coordinate and apply relevant activities and capabilities from component commands, services, DoD, agencies, host and partner nation, and coalition programs.

The eliminated redundancy would free primary HUMINT collectors to concentrate on sources that require street craft and resources not available to secondary collectors.
